The Right Livelihood Award (RLA), in the German-speaking countries more widely known as the Alternative Nobel Prize, was founded by Jakob von Uexküll in 1980. Thanks to additional sponsoring it includes a prize money of ? 200.000 and is given to individuals, organisations and representatives from movements promoting practical approaches and models for ways life respecting the human dignity. Such ideas of problem-solving are to show people that there is a brighter future and intend to encourage them to follow their examples and to shape our future in a constructive and courageous manner.
